A study by clinicians at NYU Langone Health found that a GPT4-based system (the technology behind ChatGPT) can be used to explain echocardiogram (echo) results to patients. The system analyzes doctor-written reports on a common type of echo test and generates human-friendly explanations of test results. Gen AI Engineers New Antibiotics

Scientists at The University of Texas at Austin have leveraged a Generative AI model to develop a new antibiotic based on an existing antibiotic called Protegrin-1, which is toxic to humans. This new antibiotic is already showing promise in preclinical trials. The model creates potent antimicrobial peptides that have reduced toxicity to mammalian membranes.
